  Life With A Beat  &
   Singin' Out Loud

with Ray & Karin DeMarco

Current research findings have shown the many health benefits that Music and Drum Therapy can provide. Music, with its power to evoke emotions, is processed and distributed throughout nearly every area of the brain. Drum Therapy has become an important means in providing a variety of therapeutic benefits in Health Care Service, including helping Alzheimer’s patients focus on reality, if only for the moment. Research of this nature has proven that seniors engaged in daily and weekly Mentally Stimulating Leisure Activities, such as, Reading, Writing and enjoying Music can delay the onset of Dementia.

Joining together the emotional qualities of Music and the therapeutic "powers" of the Drum, you have a unique type of “Rhythm Drum Therapy Circle”, RLDRhapsody's Life With A Beat and a unique type of "Participating Music Program", RLDRhapsody's Singin' Out Loud.

Our Life With A Beat program is a unique type of Interactive Drum Therapy Circle music accompaniment program where the participants play along on small percussion instruments to enjoyable music of the Ballroom era (Rumbas, Tangos, Polkas, Cha Chas, Waltzes, Fox Trots, Quicksteps) and the fun music of the 30’s through the 50’s. The group is lead, by Ray, with simple beats to the music being played, inviting all the members of the Drum Therapy Circle to join in and have a fun time “drumming together”, along with exercising the fingers, wrist, elbows and forearm with this drum/music activity.

Our Life With A Beat  Rhythm Drum Therapy Circle is a 45 to 60 minute program consisting of 15 to 18 songs (instrumentals and vocals) which are split between 3 to 4 segments using different percussion instruments for each segment. Our percussion instruments include, drum sticks, shakers, maracas, small beater drum and wood instruments, tambourines and other small instruments. We, also, present special theme Drum Therapy Circles for Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Memorial Day / Mother's Day, Fourth Of July, Halloween and, naturally, Christmas.

Our Singin' Out Loud programs are favorites with everyone. The programs in this series are one hour interactive Music and Drum Therapy Circle shows with themes of the Big Bands of the Swing Era, Broadway melodies, Holiday songs, Pop music of the 40's-50's, Special artists, or any type of music from Swing to Jazz to Dixieland to Ballroom to Motown to Rock and Roll. The audience participates with singing along to their favorite songs and "drumming" along to their favorite style of music in a "mini" Drum Circle performed after the show.

The programs include a bit of history and trivia of the theme, artists and songs within the show, lyrics to sing along with and small percussion instruments (egg shakers, sticks, tambourines, frame drums) are provided to everyone to have fun by "playing" along to the Ballroom style dance music (Rumbas, Tangos, Polkas, Cha Chas, Waltzes, Fox Trots, Quicksteps) which are presented at the end of each show. A few simple beats are demonstrated and we all “drum” along together to three or four favorite song melodies. We, also, offer special Tribute Shows including: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth Of July, 09/11 Tribute and Veterans Day Tribute, and our always popular Christmas Show.

Let Karin and I entertain you with our Rhythm Drum Therapy Circle and Music Theme programs with the musical entertainment of
